Million Leaf Blossoms Tingling

This piece was made onsite along the shores of the Blackwood River after several initiating sketches and written field notes, some of which have been transcribed onto the final image.

I was thinking about a Visual Language able to incorporate the other aspects of seeing, for example those perceptions that enter through the ears and the nostrils, or, for example, through the touch of wind across the hairs of a forearm. Things such as birdcalls, sunlight on skin, rustle of breeze passing through grasses and leaves and even perhaps the Earth turning on the core. I had the desire to achieve a profound depth of understanding, not only as an aspect of the work itself but as an aspect of the life force producing it.
