Inevitability (work in progress) 2018
How things are done and thought about fascinate me, as do our human processes of coming to improved understandings. My motivation as an artist is to explain the world in a series of visual conversations, based on careful observation of a wide variety of subject matter.
Generally speaking, my history of work practice reflects a long storytelling, where each individual piece represents an image linked to a formal enquiry. An ensuing dialogue eventuates, and as time passes during the physical process of making the piece, events happen and different kinds of understanding present and imprint themselves.
Current works focus on the patterns within the weather and how we attempt to scientifically interpret the interconnected way the elements seek to arrive at balance.
Other works deal with the crossover point between written text and visual interpretations of the world, in an attempt to advance and clarify comprehension.
